People of Wanstead URC through History

The word "church" was originally used to mean the people; the ones gathered, people, not buildings, are what make a church.  As Christians, we identify ourselves as believers in Jesus Christ.  Jesus is the head of the church and Christians form the body of the church.  In the Bible, in the New Testament, the Apostle Paul writes in his letter to the Ephesians:

"God has put all things under the authority of Christ and has made him head over all things for the benefit of the church. And the church is his body; it is made full and complete by Christ, who fills all things everywhere with himself."
(Ephesians 1:22-3-23 New Living Translation)
